- at least 5 mintwo waits that overlap count once

- 30 secof the steps that give a time
3 of the 5 steps never say how long they take, so both numbers are floors. Nothing here says whether you can walk away, so all 30 sec of it is counted as time you are standing over it. The recipe itself says 10 min.

Drawn to scale, so a long wait really does take up the room it takes. The shortest stretches keep a sliver so they stay visible; their times are printed beside them. The minutes are always the recipe’s own; a dashed edge means we worked out from the step whether you have to be there, and a dotted one means nothing was said, so we assumed you are standing over it.

Spoon @sweetened condensed milk{3%Tbs}(45 mL) into the bottom of a heatproof #glass{} and set a #phin filter{} on the rim.
Fill @&(~1)filter and glass{} with @Vietnamese dark roast coffee{3%Tbs}(20 g; coarse, chicory in it if you can get it), tap it level, and screw the press plate down finger-tight — no harder, or nothing comes through.
Wet @&(~1)grounds{} with @boiling water{2%Tbs}(30 mL) and ~bloom{30%sec}, until the bed swells up against the plate.
Pour @boiling water{1/2%cup}(120 mL) into @&(~1)phin{}, cap it, and ~steep{4%min} while it drips. Four minutes is right; under two means the grind is too coarse and over six means it is too fine, and both are fixed at the grinder rather than at the press.
Stir @&(~1)coffee and milk{} until the milk lifts off the bottom and the whole glass goes the colour of caramel, then pour it over @ice{2%cup} in a tall #glass{}.
